Fay
Lienti-Allen, a graduate of Central Texas College in Killeen, Texas, began her
art study in Europe in the 1970s. After two-years of drawing and
painting in Italy, including her commission of two religious works for a
small chapel in Sardinia, Ms. Lienti-Allen returned to the United States and
worked for several years in the Philadelphia area. Her next study
took her to the Caribbean Islands for a three-year study of color and design
theory under the tutelage of Nancy Merrick at Ms. Merricks gallery and school
near San Juan. Studying under Ms. Merrick, founder of Rimpar Mill Art Fair in
Wurzburg, Germany and President of the Rembrandt Art Association in Puerto Rico,
gave Fay the opportunity to meet and learn from international
artists. About her time in Puerto Rico, Ms. Lienti-Allen says,
"The uninterrupted calm and vivid color of the tropics provided the perfect
backdrop for a concentration of color and design. There is no place in the
States where I could have had the companionship and experience of international
artists and the privilege of sitting in their studios and learning their
techniques. I also had the opportunity to participate in two
international art shows with well-known artists from Europe and the
Caribbean. An international show is something many artists never
experience."
After her time in the Caribbean, Fay returned to the mainland and began showing
her work at galleries and shows in Florida. Ms. Lienti-Allen has since then
toured the United States several times showing both her serious work and her
newfound hobby cartooning. In the near future, her time "on the road"
will be the
subject of her upcoming series Behind the Scenes. This series of mixed media
works has Lienti exploring life on the road and the
"backstage" personalities and scenes she was privilege to at fairs,
art shows, and celebrity tours. Even though geometrical abstract is my
first love, this series was very important to me. This series will also be the
first time I am doing realism since the two international art shows overseas in
1987 and 1988.
